Cham a.k.a “Baby Cham” (born Damian Beckett on February 24, 1979) is a Grammy Award-nominated Jamaican recording artist. Currently on a #Lawlesstour in Europe, he stays busy touring the world performing at festivals and concerts on almost every continent. His most recent album “Lawless” has garnered much press and the official videos have also received accolades. In 2017 he headlined the Bayfront Reggae and World Music Festival as well as the Orlando Jerk Fest. He will soon join the all-star talent on the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise and from there embark for a multi-concert Japan tour. Next year’s schedule shows dates in the UK and US with more to come.
Cham is perhaps most well-known for his 2006 single “Ghetto Story” from his Atlantic Records debut album of the same name. “Ghetto Story”, led to multiple “story” songs by other artists in a similar vein. The song recently was mentioned in a Rolling Stone magazine article “Damian Marley on 5 Great Reggae Protest Songs” (10/23/17)
He is currently signed to Mad House Records, and is still called “Baby Cham” by his Jamaican fans and fans from around the world.
Cham started out in the music business working with the Mad People Gang also known as Madhouse Productions. This relationship led to the released of hits such as “Many Many”, “Boom Tune” and “Man & Man”, all of these singles were also featured on his debut album.
The Miami New Times referred to Cham’s 2000 debut album Wow… The Story as “the most anticipated album in years from any reggae artist.”
Throughout his career, Cham has collaborated with many hip-hop and R&B artists such as Foxy Brown, Alicia Keys, Carl Thomas, Shawn Mims, Akon, Damian Marley and T-Pain, Mykal Rose, Bounty Killer and more.
